The group, made up of around ten professionals from the tourism communications sector, visited Priego through Turismo Andaluz and the Patronato Provincial de Turismo (Córdoba Provincial Tourist Board)
Priego, 9 July 2020
Over several days, travel agents from Barcelona and Madrid are visiting the province of Córdoba to discover what it has to offer first-hand, as part of the ‘Andalucía Despierta’ programme, which includes a number of activities in July and September aimed at travel agencies, influencers, bloggers and journalists. The aim is to show the recovery of the tourism sector and encourage people to rediscover the region as a unique, safe, modern, distinctive and sustainable destination. ‘Andalucía Despierta’ will take place across Andalusia, coinciding with local festivals, events and tourism highlights.
Yesterday the group of journalists enjoyed a visit to our town, where they were shown what Priego has to offer visitors, touring the Castillo, the Iglesia de la Asunción, the Barrio de la Villa and the Paseo de Colombia, and finishing at the Fuente del Rey and the Fuente de la Salud.
On the evening of their second day, the group of journalists enjoyed a tasting led by the Consejo Regulador of the Priego de Córdoba Protected Designation of Origin, followed by a dinner in which extra virgin olive oil was the common thread. There was also discussion of the area’s potential for olive oil tourism.
During their stay in our town they were told about the accommodation on offer, with more than 1,300 beds across hotels, rural cottages and more, as well as the wide choice of restaurants, guide companies, active tourism and so on, and they were invited to organise future trips to the Subbética, both for individuals and for groups.
The Tourism Department would like to thank Turismo Andaluz and the Patronato de Turismo de Córdoba for their continued commitment to promoting the province and Priego de Córdoba. We are also grateful to Iverus Viajes, Abbaco International, KieroTravel.com, Patanegratour, Morgan Viatges and Nextel, among others, for their visit, and we hope to work with them in the coming months.
