Overview
Cortijo Abril. There is a hidden place where you can find yourself and those closest to you, where every sense is surprised and every experience is unforgettable. I am Toñi Marín, an interior designer by profession and, for some time now, the hostess of Cortijo Abril. Almost 20 years ago we bought this three-storey Andalusian country house, with more than 150 years of history, surrounded by pines, firs, mulberry trees and a lime tree that has been shading the best tertulias (informal gatherings) for decades. Here we have celebrated weddings, christenings, communions and countless parties. We have been moved listening to flamenco, danced to the latest hits and even enjoyed an eighties rock concert. In my case, as a keen reader, you will see that magical corners await you where you can lose yourself in a book. But whenever you come, what is sure to await you is wonderful sunsets. The cortijo (traditional Andalusian farmhouse) is a unique place because it keeps the original essence of the house together with all modern comforts; but it is also unique because it is located in a natural park, on the lower slopes of the highest peak of the Subbética.

- The estate is surrounded by a white wall in the purest Andalusian style, and inside you will find different spaces. At the back there is an indoor rustic kitchen, which in turn leads out to a cobbled outdoor area with a barbecue and a wood-fired oven. For diners we have several areas, from a super table of 6 m in the sun to a table in the shade beside the swimming pool for when the heat is on. As for the interior of the house, it is divided into three interconnected floors. The ground floor is the most traditional, and where we have made the greatest effort to keep the essence of the house; you will find the same cobbled floor as the original, combined with clay, wooden beams on the ceilings and even a manger reused as a pantry. In the centre, separating the kitchen from the bedrooms, there is a spacious living room with a fireplace and a bar. A main living room with a very large sofa facing the fireplace and a 50” TV, and an isolated suite bedroom with en-suite bathroom and a 2x2 bed.
