Description

Overview

This museum can be found in Castil de Campos, one of the outlying villages of Priego: it is a small house which has been restored with the greatest care to its original state, and laid out in the style of a traditional rural home between the 19th and mid-20th centuries, with exhibits of everyday artefacts typical of the time.
The exhibition is on two floors:
Ground floor: a small kitchen with a larder tucked away under the stairs; a living room with its traditional pitcher stands, and an open fireplace with canopy; a bedroom; a stable with feeding troughs; a patio with a pigsty and feeding bowls for poultry.
Upper floor: a hayloft; three bedrooms, one of them tiny; the biggest room has a salt pan for preserving the meat from the pig slaughter and bins for storing grain. This museum was founded through the iniciative of the villagers, who bought the building, carried out the renovation, and brought together all the exhibits. As we wander through its rooms, we are reminded of old customs, and a way of life which has now almost disappeared, but which will always be an important part of our tradition.
