Description

Overview

Almazaras de la Subbética is not just the oil mill that produces the best olive oils in the world; it is the largest cooperative in the province of Córdoba, to which the more than 7,000 families who belong to it bring their harvest. The modern facilities of this cooperative are exemplary not only for the quality of their oils but also for their respect for the surroundings and the environment. In the process of making its exceptional oils, no waste is discharged and no emissions are produced that could harm the natural environment where its facilities are located, and everything that reaches the olive oil mill is used and reused. Among others, this cooperative holds the award for “Best olive oil mill in the world for the quality of its oils” in both conventional and organic production, an award it has already won 9 times. Its emblematic oil “Rincón de la Subbética” is the most awarded extra virgin olive oil in the history of Spain and possibly the world, having been recognised as the best olive oil in the world for 8 consecutive years by World´s Best Olive Oil. Thus, a visit to Almazaras de la Subbética will be a sensory and educational experience in the hands of our expert guides and tasters, in which we will be able to show you “in situ” the careful process of extracting the extraordinary olive juices made here, finishing the activity with a sensory tasting of 4 olive oils.

We offer several types of activities related to oleotourism:

  • Visit to the traditional olive grove. A pleasant, comfortable walk among centuries-old olive trees that will allow us to interpret the surroundings, the varieties and the characteristics of the historic olive grove.
  • Visit to the facilities of the olive oil mill. Its 350,000 m2 make it one of the largest in the world, and there we will be able to observe the whole process of selection, extraction, storage and bottling of the best olive oils in the world; it is no coincidence that during the last olive harvest, 4 of the 15 best extra virgin olive oils in the world were produced here.
  • Sensory tasting of oils. After the visit, an expert taster will introduce us to the fascinating world of olive oils and teach us to distinguish between the attributes and defects that we can find in the oils we can buy on the market. An entertaining, enjoyable and educational activity that even the youngest members of the family can enjoy.
  • Oil pairing. There is the possibility of holding a sensory tasting and then enjoying a tasting of traditional dishes in which extra virgin olive oil is the real star. Purchase of extra virgin olive oils. After the various activities, attendees will be able to buy, in the olive oil mill shop, the exceptional oils made by the cooperative at the best prices on the market.
